Outlook Integration Guide

Connect your AI agent to Microsoft Outlook for sending, reading, and managing email. Uses App Passwords for secure SMTP and IMAP access to your Microsoft 365 or Outlook.com account.

What your agent can do

Email and productivity capabilities through Outlook protocols.

Send emails

Send emails from your Outlook or Microsoft 365 address. Your agent can handle client communication, internal updates, and automated notifications.

Receive emails

Monitor incoming messages via IMAP. Your agent can read, categorize, and respond to emails based on your rules.

Calendar access

View and manage calendar events through Exchange protocols. Your agent can check availability and coordinate scheduling.

Contact management

Access your Outlook contacts directory. Your agent can look up contact details and reference past interactions.

Prerequisites

What you need before connecting Outlook to your agent.

  • A Microsoft 365 or Outlook.com account
  • Two-step verification enabled on the account
  • An App Password generated from Microsoft security settings
  • A ClawTrust agent on any plan (Starter, Pro, or Enterprise)

Step-by-step setup

Connect Outlook to your agent in about 5 minutes.

1

Enable 2-Step Verification on your Microsoft account

Go to account.microsoft.com > Security > Advanced security options > Two-step verification. Turn it on and complete the setup with your preferred method.

2

Generate an App Password

In the same Advanced security options page, find "App passwords" and create a new one. Label it "ClawTrust" for easy reference. Copy the generated password immediately.

3

Add the Send credential in ClawTrust

In your agent's dashboard, go to Credentials > Add Credential. Select "Email Login (Send)" as the type. Enter your Outlook email as the username, the App Password as the password, and smtp.office365.com as the SMTP server (port 587).

4

Add the Read credential in ClawTrust

Add a second credential with type "Email Inbox (Read)". Use the same email and App Password. Set the IMAP server to outlook.office365.com with port 993 and SSL enabled.

5

Test the connection

Click "Test" on each credential card. ClawTrust verifies SMTP connectivity for Send and IMAP login for Read. Both should pass within a few seconds.

Security note
